08/20/07 Oh my, no new posts here in over a year. Much has happened in one year. Too many things to post all at once.
The biggest news, and most recent, is that our oldest daughter took a teaching job in Colorado Springs for the Colorado Springs School for the Deaf and Blind. She is a teacher of the visually impaired. She interned at that school and then they offered her a job. She loves the school but did not want to be so far from home and family. Our rather large, extended family all live in the Oregon area. We have get togethers often and the kids enjoy getting together with cousins and grandparents, aunts and Uncles. She is planning to come back on her breaks for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring Break.
I was able to take some time off and drive her there with her sister Jalyssa. We drove to Salt Lake City and rested there a couple of days, saw the sights, and then off to Colorado Springs. We had a whirlwind few days finding her an apartment that was safe. We were happy to find a gated apartment 5 minutes from the school. We set about outfitting her apartment. We were able to find some reasonable furniture and the rest came courtesy of the Dollar Store. It is amazing what you can buy at the dollar store.
Colorado Springs is very beautiful. Lots of green and the mountains framing the entire city. Pikes Peak looks down on the city and sometimes you can see the glimmer of the observation building at the top. On the last day of our trip we ventured to the cog wheel train that drives you up the mountain and ends and the top in about an hour and a half. This is the most beautiful trip. At the top of Pikes Peak you have a 360 degree view. They told us you could see as far as Kansas and the continental divide. I tried really hard but did not see a sign that read Kansas so I am not sure who figured that one out. Maybe that was a story made up by Col Pike himself. Oddly enough, Col. Pike did not climb Pikes Peak. He determined that no one would ever climb it. I guess the jokes on him.
One of the coolest things on the trip was that we say some Big Horned Sheep, the live above the tree line and there are about 600 of them in that area. They are all tagged and monitored for health. On the trip every train has a host. They point out sights of interest and history of the area. Due to the time of the year, there was no snow. Now I want to go back in the winter and go up when there is snow. The train runs all year long. You can also drive. There is a winding, gravel road that takes you to the top. The scary thing is that there are no guard rails. Most of the visitors come up by train. They take on average of 2400 people up a day.
Well enough of our travel log. I have lots of great pics. You know how that is ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ when you get to see the pics of someone else’s vacation. Most people would rather have a root canal.
08/10/06
Aside from our new babies we have also added a new bulldog named Adorabulls Sir Otis Softail. Any Harley Davidson fans will recognise the theme in the boys names as bike related. Otis is getting along great with his new family.
03/16/06 Well another big gap in my postting here. Have been so busy. We are having so much fun with our little boy Ichi. We are also happy to offer for sale two wonderful French Bulldog puppies. I willhave more info on them and more pics of them on here soon We are also waiting for Princess Pheobe to be ready to breed. This will be her first litter and we are excited to see how pretty they will be.
01/16/05 I can't beleive I have not written anything for so long. We have more puppies due. I promise to get more info on soon.
12/05/05
We have placed two of our preciouse babies with forever families. We will continue to post pictures of them as they grow. We will not know if Tilly was succesfully bred for a few more weeks. She is her usual happy self.
11/18/05
We are having so much fun with the puppies. They sure keep us hopping! We have another female that is just about ready to be bred. This is La Nan Dor's Chantilly lace: AKA Tilly or Tillers or Tilly willy. She does'nt mind the endearments. We will be breeding her with Harley. They have such excellent conformation that they should produce some wonderful puppies.
11/5/05
Pups are growing like crazy. Our other females are all being attentive aunties. If one of the pups starts to cry or make noise they go over to the cage and look in to make sure that they are all fine.
We have had some really wild weather the last few days. One of the huge awnings that go over the extra dog pen blew clear off.
10/28/05
Busy , busy, busy!! The puppies are getting to be such little piggies! They are starting to show their little personalities.
Huckelberry is the biggest and only male. He was the first to be up on his feet and is always trying to get the other puppies to play when they really just want to sleep. He bites on their ears and sometimes makes them cry so we have to tell him to be more gentle with his little sissies.
Rory is the smallest girl. She is fiesty however and make sure that she gets in and gets her share of milk. Lorelie is a little more on the quiet side. She loves to play but she is not always the first one in the play.
Suky is the most curiouse. She ws the first one to try and get out of the puppy box. She is also a little attention hog and loves to be cuddled.
Babette is just the sweetest. She loves to be cuddled and is a very mellow pup.
10/18/05
I know I have promised pictures of the babies that will be up for adoption but we have just been so busy. They are now starting to get up on their feet and playing with each other.
10/14/05
Boy how busy we are with puppies. I promise to post some pictures of the new babies this weekend. Please be patient.
1010/06/05
Having fun with puppies. We have been dressing them up in Beanie Baby clothes but they don't seem to enjoy it much.

Here is Baby Huckelberry all dressed up with pom poms. This was the only costume that would fit him as he is one of the bigger babies. I don't think he minds wearing a girls costume. Shhh..... we won't tell anyone he dressed as a girl.
10/04/05
Puppies are doing great! They are such little porkers. They are gaining about 2 oz a day. Below is a picture of Mom while she was getting sewn up after her surgery. She did wonderfully and the vet was A-1 herself.

10/01/05
What an exciting day! We had been keeping a close watch on Lexi and taking her temp to monitor possible labor. I decided to take her with me to work on Friday as I wanted to keep an eye on her temp had started to drop. I called the vet and they said to bring her in for a progesterone test to see if she was ready for her C section. I took my mom along and we rode to Washington State where the animal hospital is located. They see lots of bullys and highly recommended by bully owners so they are worth the drive.
It was a very rainy and stormy day. It seems we have started our Oregon fall after a long sunny batch of days. We arrived and in the waiting area were two bullys waiting for AI. What a busy place. We of course chatted with the bully's mom and shared bully info.
After Lexi's test, they determined that she was indeed in labor and ready for her C section. We had to wait as they surgery was backed up with an emergency C section for a Beautiful Blue heeler. She ended up having 6 gorgeous babies.
Finally we were called back and told she had 5 puppies. I male and 4 females. We got to back there in the surgery as they finished stitching Lexi up. I will be posting some pics in a few days of the whole event. So much for the x-ray that showed up 9 babies.
Anyway, after a long afternoon we loaded up a very groggy Lexi and a basket of sweeties. The weather was very bad on the way home and we had a hard time seeing at times, the rain was coming down so hard.
Finally got the babies home by myself. Everyone was off to different evening events or work. I got the babies in, set up the heat lamp, got a very lethargic lexi up as she was in a deep snooze and somehow got her into the house. Got her cleaned off and then set up for a good feeding.
With the help of the rest of the family we have survived the first night of round the clock feedings (every two hours) and everyone is off to a good start. Keep checking back cause I have been taking lots of pics.
9/28/05
Wow! so much has happened. I was able to take my girls to see the broadway musical Lion King. It was the most spectacular show I have ever seen!! The animals are incredible. If the show is traveling to your town I strongly recommend you try to go. Even if you are really not into theater this will blow your socks off.
We took our mother-to-be Lexi, to the vets to take a peek at the puppies. They are guessing she has around 9. I better stock up on puppy pampers. We are looking at a lot of sle.epless nights ahead. We are now on a close vigil wathcing her to make sure she does not start labor witout us. I will need to go out and buy some dog bones to pass out to people after the big event.
I have my waiting list started for people who want pups so be sure to email if you want a spot on the list.
9/22/05
We are spending our time getting ready for puppies. We still have not seen any signs of Tilly being ready to breed. I hope she holds off for another month so we have a space between litters. Unfortuanlty when several females live together they can all start coming in to heat at the same time. I am sure that Harley would not mind but I sure would!

You're A Bulldog Owner If...

Our mother to be Lexi is doing fine. She is a little more "clingy" than usual. We have her ultrasound set up for the 28th so we will get a close idea about how many pups she may have. She is the picture of health. I have caught her knitting some booties. With 4 feet per pup that may be quite a few booties.
She has lost her girlish figure and her..ahem..dinner plates are just about draggin the ground. Makes me wanna sing to her the "Do your ears hang low" song.
9/17/05
Do you have your hankies ready?
I AM YOUR DOG Author Unknown I am your dog, and I have a little something I'd like to whisper in your ear. I know that you humans lead busy lives.
Some have to work, some have children to raise. It always seems like you are running here and there, often much too fast, often never noticing the truly grand things in life.
Look down at me now, while you sit there at your computer. See the way my dark brown eyes look at yours? They are slightly cloudy now. That comes with age. The gray hairs are beginning to ring my soft muzzle.
You smile at me; I see love in your eyes. What do you see in mine? Do you see a spirit? A soul inside, who loves you as no other could in the world?
A spirit that would forgive all trespasses of prior wrong doing for just a simple moment of your time? That is all I ask. To slow down, if even for a few minutes to be with me. So many times you have been saddened by the words you read on that screen, of other of my kind, passing. Sometimes we die young and oh so quickly, sometimes so suddenly it wrenches your heart out of your throat. Sometimes, we age so slowly before your eyes that you may not even seem to know until the very end, when we look at you with grizzled muzzles and cataract clouded eyes.
Still the love is always there, even when we must take that long sleep, to run free in a distant land. I may not be here tomorrow; I may not be here next week. Someday you will shed the water from your eyes, that humans have when deep grief fills their souls, and you will be angry at yourself that you did not have just "One more day" with me.
Because I love you so, your sorrow touches my spirit and grieves me. We have NOW, together. So come, sit down here next to me on the floor, and look deep into my eyes. What do you see? If you look hard and deep enough we will talk, you and I, heart to heart. Come to me not as "alpha" or as "trainer" or even "Mom or Dad," come to me as a living soul and stroke my fur and let us look deep into one another's eyes, and talk.
I may tell you something about the fun of chasing a tennis ball, or I may tell you something profound about myself, or even life in general. You decided to have me in your life because you wanted a soul to share such things with. Someone very different from you, and here I am. I am a dog, but I am alive.
I feel emotion, I feel physical senses, and I can revel in the differences of our spirits and souls. I do not think of you as a "Dog on two feet" -- I know what you are. You are human, in all your quirkiness, and I love you still. Now, come sit with me, on the floor. Enter my world, and let time slow down if only for 15 minutes. Look deep into my eyes, and whisper to my ears. Speak with your heart, with your joy and I will know your true self. We may not have tomorrow, and life is oh so very short.

Does this sound like any bulldog you know?
Sniff, sniff, sniff.
Pawing at the ground, digging furiously
I GOT IT! I GOT IT! I GOT IT!
What is it? Something stinky and old.
Perhaps a dead bird? Or maybe a rotten bone?
OH! I KNOW! I KNOW! Its that old dead rat the cat drug though moms Kitchen,
Boy did she scream! So loud she woke dad on the hammock.
He jumped so fast I jumped too, snoring, sound asleep in my own dream at dads feet.
Dad had to get up and take "that disgusting thing outside!"
I followed and secretly watched from the corner of the porch.
He flings if far out into the shrubs.
With the stealth of a Jaguar, the cunning of an Eagle.
Me, Bulldog of the Universe- sneak over, past dad, unaware of my plan.
I seize the Lovely decapitated rat and carefully, making sure to pause, look around.
Phew-he did not see me; no one to shout "No" the dreaded word that makes me
Drop in my tracks. Shamed of my deed. I always have to relinquish the prize-to them. Depending on the severity of my crime I get the "look" as they retrieve their new shoe, the Sunday paper or the piece of toast left to close to the edge of the kitchen table.
So far so good. I am invisible; Bulldog of the Universe has successfully made it to the corner of the garden-my private retreat. My graveyard of secret burial.
Here I revel in the spoils of my labor. The missing pencil, the cats catnip mouse (boy was cat mad when it came up missing-he he he) and lots of bones. Wonderful bones. A whole cowful of bones at my disposal.
The rat had joined the spoils. To be re-discovered by me.
Now, months later, I shake off the dirt from my prize.
Back and forth I shake my head. What a lovely feeling, the lifeless rodent slaps against my jowls.
The rat, now shrunken and wonderfully putrid.
I am stuck with a deliciously brilliant idea!!
I drop the headless rat and roll, roll, roll. What a smell. A dark and dusty rotten smell.
I am so proud. I am covered from head to toe in essence "Eau De Rat"
Too good to waste on a chance discovery by cat,
I rebury my prize. The great thing about my spot. I can re-hide my treasure to enjoy again and again. No one knows of my hidden oasis.
Now for the best part. I can prove to them how Bulldog of the Universe is the best dog in all the world. They will see me and shower me with hugs and kisses. How could they resist? They will exclaim of my wisdom, my handsome bulldog features and my sweet irrisistable personality-how I am the "Best doggie woggie in the whole world" "my little snuggle button"
I sneak back to the porch. Sticking my head through the doggie door I take a quick survey of the room.
Mom and Dad are snuggling on the couch just beyond the kitchen.
How wonderful. I can surprise them in one place at the same time.
I run though the door and swiftly as a gazelle, run past the kitchen and in one flying leap land in the middle-wiggling, kissing and turning summersaults all over them with my smelly, dirty, putrid rat rolling body.
Wow! How could I have been so wrong? My lovely surprise squelched in seconds amidst screams and a flurry of hands.
Banished to the deck while dad fills the utility tub on the porch.
That only means one thing.
BATH.
I resign myself to my impending doom.
To smell of flowers, sunshine and fruits of the forest-most unfitting
After all I am Bulldog of the Universe.
Sniff.
Author? ME!

Here is the grande dame herself. She looks like she is full of puppies so I could not resist taking her picture. She is such a ham!

It seems like there are not enough hours in a day. Just last week(it seemed)school was getting out and the kids had the whole loooooong summer to enjoy. Now, in the blink of an eye, it's fall. Even though the weather had been warm there is a definate change in the air. The leaves are starting to look old and brittle. Time again for high schoolfootball games and nights of homework. I get to relive the civil war, figuring volume with water displacment and going back to the old faithful computer to get the answers that I cannot remember from high school and college.
I am so thankful my kids can benefit from all the information the internet age has to offer. No longer do they have to spend hours in the reference section of the library, cause you can't take the books home. We have encyclopedia softwear at our fingertips, NASA web sites and if all else fails there is always "Ask Geeves" for the rest of the stuff you can't find.
The internet had really brought the bulldog community together. Now you can "serf the net" for everything you need. Look up possible illness, learn about canine nutrition and chat with others from all over the world about our beloved bully's.
Give your animals and loved ones a hug and kiss tonight and be thankful we are all safe and well.
PS: Are you ready for Christmas?

Here is brother Kevin teaching his son Zavyn to scooter.

I came across this poem the other day. Thought I might share it with you. Anyone who has lost a pet will identify with this. Pets becomes so ingrained in our lives, often spend more time with us than other family members. They are a constant presence. When they are gone there is a gaping hole. Our ears "listening" for the sound of the snoring, clicking nails on the floor and the feel of a wet tongue on our hand. The best remedy for the loss of a pet? Adopt another pet. Not as a replacement but a successor~someone to carry on the love that your pet brought you and a way to extend love to a pet in need.
There is something missing in our home, We feel it day and night. We know it will take time and strength, Before things feel quite right. But just for us, we need to mourn Our hearts they need to mend. Though some may say, "It's just a pet.", We know we've lost a friend. You've brought such joy to our hearts, And richness to our days. A constant friend through joy or loss With gentle loving ways. Companion, pal, & confidant, A friend we won't forget. You'll live forever in our hearts, Our sweet forever pet.

I will be the first one to tell you to check with local bulldog rescue before purchasing a puppy from a breeder. Adult bulldogs are often housebroken and trained. They may have been given up if their owner had to move or due to illness. Some bulldogs have special needs but many people have experience in these areas and could be the "perfect fit".There are many bulldogs, waiting for good families, listed on the American Bulldog Club web site. You can also contact your state bulldog club.

Well, it looks like Oregon will not be getting any people from Hurricane Katrina. They had a high school at set up with cots and everything ready to make them welcome. I am not sure why they won't be coming but I heard somewhere that they did not want to send the off too far from thier homes.
Below are pictures of a new four legged friend we met while camping. Her name is Pansy Sue. She is a pot belly pig and belongs to the campground hosts. She comes every year. She is 10 years old and her mother told us that this may be her last year camping as she is having a harder time getting around. I hope she has a spider friend named Charlotte to keep her from the frying pan(no disrespect intended-DO NOT send me emails from PETA or the ASPCA saying I have no heart for the plight of the piggy.) I wonder if their are old age homes for elderly swine?

This picture above is Pansy Sue's brother Bobo. What a contrast. I guess they figured if they were traveling with a 200# pig they better make the rest of their pets super small. Bobo only weighed about 4 #'s.

So much has happened in a few short days. First, we have all felt sadness over the destruction of Hurricane Katrina. I hope that everyone is doing thier part in relief efforts. Even a small donation or contribution in time, goods or money will make a difference. Also, several animal shelters are in need of food and money for the hundereds of orphaned and lost animals in the New Orleans and surrounding areas hit by the storm.
We enjoyed our annual camping/family reunion in Eastern Oregon. I will be posting some pictures of all the fun. Everyone made it safely home.
Also, back to school time and we are all busy getting back into the school routine.
Lexi is getting big-looks like we have puppies on the way! Tilly should be getting ready to breed soon, so we may have a houseful of bully's.

The picture above is the sunset over Mt. Hood taken from Lake Billy Chinook campground.(ya, I know, how many sunsets can you look at in your lifetime?)If you look carefully in the top right corner, you will see a jet plane making a trail in the sky.

Here are great cousin Peter(right) and nephew Renn having a great time in a tree.

Below are some new pictures of one of our puppies. We called her Pestachio but her new name is Lucy. She is a very active happy dog living with her new family in Eastern Oregon.
How lucky can she be. She gets to snow ski in the winter and water ski in the summer. There is a great picture of her on front page dloing what bully's do best. ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Spent most of the weekend finishing the dog pens and dog house. Quite a job, but the bully's seemed very excited about their new flat. They are not allowed to invite friends over without asking, they cannot have wild parties without inviteing me and they just always make their beds.

Here is a picture of peanut at one week old and 8 monthes old. Boy has she changed. She was a sweet baby and is an even sweeter teenager.

Have been adding to this site a little at a time. You just have to keep checking the pages. I will be adding more pages as time goes on.
Can you think of anything more fun than getting a root canal? I had to get one done today. I can think of lots of things more fun like, cleaning out a septic tank, babysitting Howler Monkeys or getting eaten alive by fire ants-well..ok the last one would not be more fun. When you are laying back in the dentist chair with your mouth open and two sets of hands in your mouth, that is not the time for them to ask if I am OK. If I say no will the dentist drill harder? You just have to pretend that everything is ok. I have a little trick, though. I ask the receptionist on the way out which car is the dentist's, then I let the air out of his tires. A little bit of revenge goes a long way. ;D

Boy, learning new computer programs and web design is for the birds. I guess I better go back to school. It's not enough to be able to take the picture, load it on the computer but the trick is finding it once you loaded it. Directories, paths-now my brain is fried and I think I am just too old for this stuff. I will need to go out and hire a 2 year old for this-or maybe Princess Phoebe. She is so expensive for tech support.

Most of the US has been battling hotter than usual weather this year and it has caused the fleas to multiply, well... like fleas. Make sure that you are extra diligent in the warmer weather to do a daily skin check on your bully. As you probably know, bulldogs are more susceptible to skin allergies and bug bites.
We have thankfully never had a flea problem but our puppy, Peanut got a spider bite and it caused enough irritation she would not leave it alone. I put Mineral oil on it and watched it carefully. We were close to putting a collar on her(the one that looks like a lampshade that you get from your vet-these are-by the way-handy to have around for just this reason) but it started to look better. Before it was all said and done she lost hair in a patch on her upper arm. Luckily we had no other problems.
All this to say, it doesn't take much to cause "hot spots" or skin irritations. Fleas are so easily combated now with the new products like Advantage and Frontline. I have not needed these products, as we are flea free, but will use them in a minute if we notice a problem. Fleas multiply more quickly in households with multiple pets.
Another tip: do not buy these products from your veterinarian or other retail stores. There are many places online that you can order these products from at a much greater discount, often free shipping and best of all-no gas wasted(now that somthing at today's gas prices) and no time wasted. Call your vet to see which product they would recommend then order online.

Well I learned an important lesson today. Do not freeze those one liter bottles of flavored, carbonated water. When you open them they explode. The bully's thought it great fun. They looked at me as if to say "I told you so". I looked at them and said "Someone could have warned me." They replied " We just wanted to see you jump." Who says bully's have no sense of humor. They are fond of practical jokes.
Bulldog Rules:
If it looks like my toy, it's mine.
If it is the best toy, it's mine
If you have it and I like it, it's mine.
If you even look at it, it's mine.
If I have ever even though about that toy, it's mine.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. Had the oportunity to babysit our nephew's. Had a great time. They are 5 and 2 so they really keep us on our toes.
08/19/05
Another hot day. Daddy and sissy have been out finishing the big outside pens for the bully's. We have set up a huge dog house with two large play yards off each one. They can be all together or seperated when they are out. They also have a shade canopy to keep the sun off. We will be installing AC in the dog house. Now we have to take them in the people house when it gets too hot. They have reqested TV with a dish for thier house but I draw the line. I told them having a x-box and a mini bar out there is bad enough. They would just watch TV all day long and drink diet coke. I have thought about giving them a small kiddie pool with just a couple of inches of water but I am afraid they might roll in the grass afterwards and get all dirty and full of grass. I will have to think about that one.

Our mother to be is doing well. Of course we don't know this early if she has buns in the oven but we are giving her the special treatment. She has her inside rest periods as we all know that early stages of pregnancy can leave us extra tired. I tell her every day that she is making pretty puppies. For some reason she is now Tivo'ing all the Baby Story programs on TV. I can't even work the Tivo right.Go figure. Harley keeps strutting around like the rooster protecting the chickens in the chicken coop.
I received some great pictures from a bulldog friend today. She said I could post them for all to enjoy.

This is our friend Harley Fat Boy before his morning mocha Grande.

This is the whole gang-smile pretty!
Thanks for sharing with us. We love to meet new Canine friends-feline and any other man or beast.
One sad note. A local lady dropped off 37 cats to the local animal shelter in Oregon. Apparently she has many more at home. She is under investigation. Lets pray that they all find homes. Any of you in Oregon call the Portland Humane Society and adopt a new furry friend-Meow!

One of our visitors to this site shared her story of her beloved bully, Major. She was unselfish enough to adopt him from Bulldog rescue even though he had a diagnosis of Heartworm. She shared her beautiful poem and has given permission for me to share it with all of you. Disclaimer: This is copywrited material and no one can borrow or reprint information unless stated on the document.
Please remember how important it is to have your bully's tested for heartworm and have them on a heartworm preventative. Your bully's life depends on it. As your veterinarian to test your bully and follow the vet's recommendations!!!!!
4/11/05 My Dearest Major,
I know
I cannot tell you
how much I miss you
I miss you.
I miss you
searching for your cowhide bone to take and show me
As it is held so tightly within your shark-teethed mouth. You
stood in position
bone in mouth
growling, chest out,
tail erect
in that fighting stance,
biting down hard on the bone.
You
showing it off to me
as to say
to me
just try
just try
to take it
from me
Oh I respected you
Your strength
My Major
My love,
My sweet,
My charming companion
Who loved to roll on your back
Back and forth kicking your four legs
Who often got a fit to run too fast for a few feet
stopping dead short in your tracks
spinning around with a grin
Who loved to eat people food
Burgers and steaks, Scrambled eggs
Who always stood by my side. Who loved that word, "OUT"
Who loved those sentences, "Wanna GO OUT?" Wanna take a bath?
Want me to Brush you? Lie down, Lie down, Tickle Belly, Tickle Belly, aawwwwwwwwww"
And I know I cannot
I cannot tell you how much, how much, how much I do miss you.
My little Mooooo Mooo Deeee, Moooooo Mooooo Deeeeeee,
Mooooooo Moo Major
Moo Moo Major written 6 long days after you passed--dian

A very hot weekend indeed. Spent most of the time trying to keep the bully's cool. As I add more to this site I will talk about how important it is for bulldogs to stay cool in hot weather. They can over heat very easily in temps of upper 70's. We have AC in the house so we take turns having some in and some out, only for very short periods of time. Of course it goes with out saying the bullies enjoy being inside. They love to lay on the couch and watch animal planet. They are very possessive about the clicker. They like to choose the program and channel serf. So far the favorites are Animal Planet, The Dog Whisperer(a great show on National Geographic Channel) and Judge Judy. They sometimes argue between Judge Judy and Jerry Springer but I won't allow them to watch springer(sometimes they sneak it one when I leave the room-rascally bullies)

I guess the biggest news is that we have a web site up and running. It will be an ever changing beast and I hope, as I learn, we can bring to you an interesting, amusing and informative place to visit.
We have always been a lover of dogs and especially the "smooshed" face variety. Our first bulldog, Alexis, is a white with a little brindle. She is such a lover and has a wonderful personality and temperment. Our second was Princess Phoebe. She and Lexi are best friends. Our third and fourth dogs came as a pair-stately sweet Harley and his bride Tilly.
Now Harley had no idea that he would be the Maharaja of a Harem of females however, I think he has warmed to his position and tells me he has had no complaints. I tell him if so, please submit them in writing and managment will consider all suggestions and complaints. Tilly has also done well considering she is one of several wives(plural marriage if you live in Salt Lake City, Utah(he he)
It came time to breed Lexie so we chose our friends beautiful boy brindle, Reggie. He made a wonderful daddy(haven't seen a support check for awhile) and beautiful brindle and white pups. Well one was fawn but I will tell you about our runt, Peanut, in a minute.
Lexie produced 5 beautiful(can I say beautiful enough?) puppies, 4 girls and 1 boy. What a fun time we had raising these guys. In the begining we were sleep deprived from round the clock feedings but as the little guys grew, what fun! Ya just gotta love the little bundles even though we lovingly called them poop machines. Ha.
It came time to find the little furballs homes and we are happy to say that they all are established as queens and king of the castles they inhabit. I try to keep in touch with the new parents and will update here from time to time.
So now we come to the runt, Peanut. Peanut was the second pup born to Lexie-in fact just as I was walking in the door coming home early from work after a frantic call from Hubby.(how is that for a whooper of a run on sentence-no emails please about my grammer) Peanut was less than half the size of the other pups and a fawn(light brown) and white. Lexie was encouraged to try a free welp(recommemded by our vet who treats lots of bullies) and she did have some on her own but we did have to take her in for delivery of the rest by C section.
Bullies are notoriously lazy whelpers(annoying too, they keep asking for demerol, Ice chips and back rubs) and often end up with C sections to protect the mom and the pups. Anyway, I digress, Peanut(so christend by my mother as she was as small as a Peanut) was given the special treatment being the runt. She always had a head start at the milk bar so she would get enough to eat and not get edged out by the rest of the little porkers.
The end of the story is she got so much extra attention from all of us(they all got lots) we just could not part with her. We decided to add her to the household of bullies and one very spoiled Boston Bull Terrier, Bailey.
So here we are. We just bred Lexie to Harley and with any luck we will have our next litter of furballs about the 3rd of October. Needless to say that the expectant momma is getting lots of pampering and extra vitamins. I will keep updates as we all journey together. I promise(well-maybe not) that they will all not be this long.
